Overview

1.What is Carbon Footprint of Products?

Carbon Footprint of Products, or CFP, refers to a scheme of “visualising” (making a declaration of) CO2 equivalent emissions obtained by converting GHG emissions from the entire life cycle stages of a product (goods or service), i.e. from the raw material acquisition stage to the disposal and recycling stage.

Such visualised information and the analysis of CO2 emissions from each stage of a product’s life cycle enable businesses to understand the hotspots of the CO2 emissions and to promote their reduction efforts. They also enable consumers to be more conscious of the CO2 emissions from their activities, i.e. purchasing, use, and disposal/recycling of the product. Therefore, consumers can play a major role in the CO2 reduction effort by choosing and purchasing the CFP certified products.
